Meet The Founder
Hi, I’m Jayla Garvin, the founder of Thirteen Thirteen Experience.
I’m originally from South Brunswick, New Jersey, grew up in Easton, Pennsylvania, and moved to Philadelphia to earn my degree in Architectural Engineering. Today, I work as a Project Manager—but Thirteen Thirteen Experience was born from something much deeper than my career.
At the heart of this brand is my journey with 1 Corinthians 13:13: “And these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
My mom gave me a pink Bible bag with this scripture when I was a child. I had no idea then that those three words would follow me through so many seasons of my life.
My first car was a white 2002 Ford Focus that my mom named Faith. When that chapter ended, I received a 2003 Lexus ES 300 that I named Hope. Looking back, I realize those names were more than names—they were reminders. Faith carried me through one season, hope carried me into another and one day, Love will carry me through a journey of its own.
But somewhere along the way, I became overwhelmed, overworked, and disconnected from myself. I was giving so much of me to my career and everything around me that self-care became an afterthought. After becoming injured, I was forced to slow down and finally listen to what I had been neglecting.
Myself.
That moment reminded me that there will never be a perfect time to begin. Sometimes, you simply have to begin where you are.
And that is how Thirteen Thirteen Experience was born.
I created this space as a reminder that your journey matters—the beautiful moments, the difficult seasons, the unexpected detours, and everything in between. You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to keep moving forward with faith, hope, and love.
Because sometimes, the journey isn't about finding your destination.
It's about discovering who you become along the way.
